The parliamentary delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, headed by Dr. Ahmad Naderi, Member of the Presidium of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, met with Shri Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, on the sidelines of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum 2026.During the meeting, both sides recalled the historic ties between Iran and India and referred to recent high-level engagements between the leaders of the two countries, including their meeting in September 2026. Shri Om Birla emphasised the importance of regional peace and stability for the welfare of humanity and highlighted the role of parliamentary dialogue and bilateral engagement in achieving these objectives. The two sides also exchanged views on advancing cooperation through joint efforts on Chabahar Port. Dr. Naderi expressed his gratitude to India for providing medicines, assistance and other support to Iran. Both sides underscored the importance of continued engagement and dialogue to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries.
