President of India: India Eager to Expand Ties with Iran in All Areas, Particularly Trade and Economy

I. R. Iran New Ambassador Presents His Letter of Credence to President of India

On Friday December 7th2018, H.E. Dr. Ali Chegeni presented his letter of credence to H.E. Ram Nath Kovind, honorable president of India. Shortly after, the President had a meeting with the new Iran Ambassador.

In this meeting, H.E.Ram Nath Kovind, expressed happiness regarding Iran-India historical and amicable ties and emphasized on expansion of the current 13 billion dollar volume of trade. Excellency Kovind also strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Chabahar which took lives of a number of Iranians and expressed his sympathies with the government and people of Iran.

President of India, referred to President Rouhani’s visit to India in February 2018 and considered it as a new chapter in the relations between the two countries. He said the India’s policy is to sustain and develop its ties with Iran and we must seize the opportunities ahead.

Excellency Kovind considered India’s participation in development of Chabahar port as a positive sign in relation to bilateral cooperation.

H.E. Dr. Ali Chegeni also extended the warm greeting of H.E. Dr.Hassan Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to his Indian counterpart. Dr. Chegeni referred to the friendly and historical ties and abundant commonalities and bonds joining the two countries and said that Iran’s outlook to India is not limited to the past or the present and the Islamic Republic of Iran hopes to promote its relations with India to greater heights, particularly taking into consideration trade and economy.
