About Us

India is a familiar name for the people of Iran and ties between Iran and India go back to thousands of years. The cultural, political and economic bonds between Iran and India have always been strong and stable. These two countries have had common borders till the year 1947. The official diplomatic relations between Iran and the independent India were established on March 15, 1950. The Islamic Revolution of Iran in the year 1979 opened a new chapter in ties between Iran and India. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran the authorities of the two countries paid several visits to each other. Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of the independent India paid a visit to Iran in the year 1956. The visits of the high officials of the two countries continued and H. E. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmedi Nejad, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met H. E. Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, on April 29, 2008 in New Delhi.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has one Embassy in New Delhi and two Consulates in the cities of Mumbai and Hyderabad and two Culture Houses in New Delhi and Mumba
